About HADA

The Academy will be the only acting conservatory in Houston. Our plans include becoming an accredited training conservatory. Actors will no longer need to leave the state in order to receive appropriate training; the program will be essentially the same. Classes are kept small allowing for more one-on-one time with instructors.

Youth Conservatory

A program designed to work with children from ages 7-17. The objective is to motivate and inspire young student actors by helping them overcome negative impressions of society and replace them with self-empowering tool that lets the student actor develop problem-solving skills, self-confidence and self-growth.

Adult Conservatory

H.A.D.A seeks to develop the artist in every actor. Our training prepares actors to succeed in all aspects of the profession. The program offers an excellent balance of theory and practical exercises to help students develop the personal confidence, creativity, and acting skills required for today’s demanding stage, film and television roles. Students that successfully complete this program will become accomplished performing artist.

Our curriculum combines rigorous training in the practical disciplines of acting with the study, rehearsal, and performance of classical and contemporary works drawn from the world repertoire. Our instructors have all worked and directed in stage, film and television.

With a campus in the heart of Houston, our organization strives to bring students of many backgrounds into close and regular contact with writers, directors, designers, and actors of many theatrical traditions. It is through this exposure to professionals at work—and to their audience—that our students learn what drama means to the life of a community, and how the life of a community enriches its theater.

Whatever your experience, you will leave the Academy with a solid beginning to your training as a professional actor.

Students

Students are carefully selected to attend the Academy. We seek equality as well as diversity in our student body. We strive to have an environment where each student is encouraged to share his or her wisdom, insight and guidance. We believe that student support, mentoring and networking are crucial to the health of the student body.

A wholesome, positive, safe and value-oriented atmosphere in which students learn teamwork, creativity, intellectual, physical, vocal and emotional skills needed to create a sound technique.

Company

The Academy will offer a select group of actors a program of intricate training. The Company is by invitation only.

Business Profession

The Academy’s purpose is to give clear guidance and prepare its students for the practical “ins and outs” of the acting profession. We are not just here to teach you how to act, we are here to teach you how to handle the industry.

Students will get the chance to meet with industry professionals during the year. There will be regular talks and visits by regional theatre directors, agents, casting directors, income tax advisers and representatives from Equity, SAG and AFTRA.
