Tuition is non-refundable and only transferable when a written cancellation notice is received by Houston Academy of Dramatic Arts 7 business days prior to the beginning of the class semester. Such credit is only good for 6 months. The tuition is NOT prorated based on student attendance. This is NOT a week by week program.
The Academy reserves the right to cancel a class without advance notice. In the event that such right is exercised, all monies are refundable. The refund does not apply when the class is postponed, only when it is cancelled. The Academy reserves the right to postpone a class until further notice.
The Academy does not allow make-up classes.

The core curriculum teaches acting techniques, improvisation, monologue, scene study and auditioning. This program begins with monologue development moving into scene study/character work, advancing into more technically demanding scene study which increases all levels of skill. A performance is given to an invited audience at the end of each semester.

Scene Study – Meets Wednesday’s from 7-9 p.m.
2012 FALL Semester begins January 18th – February 15th
Showcase on the 15th
Scene Study is designed to challenge actors to RAISE THE BAR and further understand the actor’s craft. Actors will apply analysis to scene work with an emphasis on realism while exploring new depths and soaring to new heights in their acting as they “work out” with other committed actors.We will focus on techniques of character development, (internal & external) discover given circumstances, subtext and sustaining, through creation, a real emotional involvement. Actors work on techniques and acting exercises from Meisner, Hagen and Adler. These skills will be used to create an organic, grounded, honest connection to the scene and audience by deepening the ability to live truthfully within a compelling set of imaginary circumstances. Cost is only $11.25 per hour.

Showcase on the 15th
In this series actors will study acting, voice, diction, movement, rhythm and style. Actors will learn the meaning and emotion of the text, how to discover the thought process within the speech and how to physically be at ease doing Shakespeare. In this class actors will pay attention to analyzing text, developing a character, exploring their voice and appropriate acting techniques from absolute stillness to grandiose gestures. A performance is given to an invited audience at the end of each semester.

In this camp young film makers get to create their own short film and premier it for their family, friends, cast and crew. HADA offers and integrated program of both production and acting. Student film makers will learn to tell a clear story with a a beginning, middle and end. Students will have hands on classes in directing, writing, cinematography and production to cover the creative and technical demands of telling a astory with moving images. Everyone writes and directs his or her own short film. Each student is placed into a small production crew under the supervision and guidance of their instructor.

Young actors will dive into theatre in the three week camp. Actors work on acting, improvisation, stage make-up, stage combat and production. Actors will explore all the moving parts which make a theatrical production come alive. Actors are involved in a working production which includes writing, costumes, lighting, sound and set design.
Actors leave camp with self-assurance while developing an appreciation for being a part of a team!
Pay Full tuition of $650.00

With private acting lessons, you can learn acting skills from a professional who will give you one-on-one attention and ensure that you grasp each new skill before moving on to the next lesson.
Private lessons are also a great place to prepare material for any audition.
Private acting lessons work well in conjunction with your acting classes and also stands alone as a superb training option. Acting coaching is available on a regular basis.

Join a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a professional training atmosphere where you will learn the skills needed to be a “triple threat” in the theatre. You will perform in a professional working studio. The series gives young actors a real opportunity to showcase all aspects of training. The program emphasizes self-discovery, intellectual, physical and emotional development to create a sound technique. The curriculum allows students time to test, to play and vary importantly to find comfort on stage. The Broadway Musical Series rehearsals are held on Saturdays. The semesters run August to December and January to May.

Hit numbers from ”Cinderella” , “Godspell”, “Alice and Wonderland”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “The Drowsy Chaperone”, “Annie”, “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Into the Woods”….with a possible twist!

Rehearsal Requirements
The first rehearsal there will be a mandatory meeting at the top of rehearsal with ALL Parents and Cast!
Please plan accordingly. All actors will receive a production calendar in order to avoid any unnecessary conflicts.

Audition Process
FIRST - Call the booking line 713-316-9800 to set up a time for your audition time slot / pay deposit / pick up C.D. and script as well as the BMS parent packet. PLEASE DO NOT WRITE ON THE SCRIPT.
THEN - Read the script / listen to the soundtrack and pick a song that you feel best fits your voice and personality. Memorize your song and practice in front of the mirror, friends and family!
FINALLY - Bring a current picture & resume and your script and c.d. to the audition. You will sing with c.d. accompaniment only.
